Command Reference
Every performance-affecting Rust convar, console command and launch option: what it does, its default, what we recommend.
Before you trust a value on this page
Confirm every name, default and range in your own client before you trust it.
Where these defaults came from
Counting where each default came from…
Rust ships a patch every month, so the safest value is the one your own client prints. In the F1 console, search by keyword and read the result:
lists every convar whose name contains that word. Typing a convar name on its own prints its current value without changing it.
An entry that is not in your build's console output no longer exists in your build. That is normal.
What the labels on each row mean
- measured
- Established first-hand on our reference machine; the entry names the hardware and the method.
- consensus
- Community-established, and consistent with what we see.
- vendor
- Official vendor, Unity, Microsoft or Facepunch guidance, including the convar's own registered help text.
- inference
- Reasoned from how the setting works, and unverified.
Impact is how much a setting is likely to matter on a machine that is already set up sensibly, not a promised frame-rate number.
